اردو زبان کو اس کے آغاز سے ہی تہذیب و ثقافت کا سرچشمہ کہا گیا ہے جس کی وجہ اس کا تاریخ اورجذبات واحساسات کےاظہارِخیال کاایسا روشن مظہر ہونا ہے جس میں تہذیبی ورثہ، فکر کی گہرائی اوردیگر زبانوں کے رنگ بھی نمایاں ہیں۔
ہمارا ادارہ شمالی امریکہ اور دنیا کے دیگر حصوں میں اردو زبان و ادب کی خدمت کے لیے قائم کیا گیا ہے جہاں اردو زبان بولنے والوں کی کثیر تعداد ہے۔ جس کا مقصد نہ صرف اردو زبان و ادب کو اپنی نسلوں تک پہنچانا ہے بلکہ عالمی سطح پر مختلف ثقافتی و ادبی تقاریب اور ورکشاپس کے ذریعے اردو زبان کی عالمی برادری بھی تشکیل دینا ہے تاکہ دیگر زبانوں کی طرح اردو زبان بھی دنیا کے ساتھ ہم آہنگ ہوکر آگے بڑھ سکے۔ ہمیں اُمید ہے کہ علم، ادب اور فکر و تخلیق کے اس سفر میں آپ ہمارے
ساتھ ہم قدم رہیں گے۔

اردو ادب کی تاریخ عظیم شعرا، ادب اور دانش وروں کی ایسی روشن روایت پر مشتمل ہے جنہوں نے زبان کو فکری گہرائی، فنی حسن اور تہذیبی وقار عطا کیا۔ ولی دکنی سے میر تقیٰ میر، مرزا غالب، علامہ اقبال، فیض احمد فیض، ناصر کاظمی، احمد فراز، جون ایلیا اور پروین شاکر جیسے جدید شعرا تک ان شخصیات نے عشق، حریت، کرب، مزاحمت اور انسانی احساسات کو اردو شاعری کا حصہ بنایا۔ اسی طرح سعادت حسن منٹو، بانو قدسیہ، فاطمہ ثریا بَجیا اور اشفاق احمد جیسے افسانہ و ناول نگاروں نے سماجی حقیقتوں، انسانی نفسیات اور تہذیبی شعور کو اردو نثر میں نئی وسعت دی، جبکہ پطرس بخاری، ابنِ انشا، اور انور مقصود نے طنز و مزاح کے ذریعے معاشرتی رویوں پر گہری مگر شگفتہ نظر ڈالی۔ یہ تمام شخصیات اردو ادب کی وہ مشترکہ میراث ہیں جنہوں نے زبان کو محض اظہار کا ذریعہ نہیں بلکہ فکری تربیت، سماجی آگہی اور تہذیبی شناخت کا استعارہ بنا دیا۔
